Top Travel Destinations in 2025

Travelers launched back out on the road with a vengeance the last few years. Now that travel has started to normalize a bit more, here are our top picks for where people will go in 2025.

Sardinia

It seems like everyone has been to Italy post-COVID, especially to the highlights like Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast and especially Sicily after the popularity of White Lotus. It’s time for travelers to get off the beaten track to other areas of the country like Piedmont, the Dolomites, Puglia and especially Sardinia. New hotels are currently being built which will drive more activities, restaurants and ways to experience this beautiful island. The north has beautiful beaches, luxe beach clubs, great restaurants and shopping. The south is more rustic, think outdoor adventures and the beaches are more remote. A boat day or two is a must regardless of where you stay so you can access some of the beaches that are only accessible by boat or a hike.

Iceland

One of the many great things about Iceland is there are so many ways to experience this island. The summer months bring endless sunlight, gorgeous hiking under waterfalls, and countless activities for adventure seekers. It’s a perfect destination to see the Northern Lights in the winter months, to bundle up and go glacier hiking, snowmobiling and have cozy dinners while listening to the storm outside. Travelers can either chose to base themselves in Reykjavik, a lively town with locals eager to share their culture, or head out to the countryside. A mix of both is perfect if there is enough time.

Eastern Europe

Western Europe has been a very popular tourist destination as it was comfortable and safe post-COVID. So many people have traveled to the UK, France, Spain and Italy during their summer vacations that travelers are starting to head east for something different, and more affordable. The gorgeous cities of Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Salzburg are some of the highlights. Rich with history, art, music, food, wine and fascinating people, and easy to travel better, you will likely hear more about these destinations at your 2025 dinner parties.

South Africa

As travelers flock back to Africa, South Africa is top of the wish-list since it offers such diverse experiences. Not only can people see the Big Five on safari, but they can immerse themselves in the rich culture of Cape Town, dive with Great White Sharks, sip in the Winelands and use this as a base to explore Botswana, Vic Falls and Mozambique. Plus, there are wonderful organizations like Masicorp who can help travelers see a different side of the country. This is one of those destinations that leave you wanting more.

Argentina

South America is a hot destination for intrepid travelers, and it’s peaking the interest of those looking for somewhere new, different, exciting and thrilling. There is so much to discover and Argentina offers everything from Patagonia to cosmopolitan cities to some of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. And not to mention, they have some wine too. With easy domestic flights, travelers can hop around the country and have a huge variety of experiences all in one trip.

Colombia

Colombians are particularly proud of their country, it’s so much fun to be a tourist here and watch everyone show so much pride in how far they have come since the recent cartel days. The music, the drinks, the vivaciousness, the Andes, the colonials towns all make this a unique destination. Visit charming Cartagena and then sip coffee at a hacienda in the mountains, then take a street art tour in Bogota to round out the experience.

Nicaragua

It is so exciting to see Nicaragua making a comeback on travel wish lists. While neighboring Costa Rica hasn’t stopped being popular, Nicaragua is the underrated sibling. There are islands to hammock on, volcanos to hike, waves to surf, and an after school program in Grenada that accepts volunteers. The locals are excited to welcome travelers to experience the culture and learn about the history. This is a beautiful place for families, friends and solos explorers.

Japan

Japan’s popularity doesn’t stop, and for good reason. Japan has such a complex, fascinating and strong culture that makes it an enticing destination to explore. Tokyo is forever bustling and funky, Kyoto is Instagram worthy around every corner, not to mention beaches, mountain, ryokans and hot springs. And the food – so much more than just sushi it’s a must to experience kaiseki, ramen, shabu shabu, tempura, waygu and so much more.

Thailand

Southeast Asia is expected to draw more travelers in 2025, particularly Thailand as it’s the heart of the region. This gorgeous kingdom is full of delicious food, exotic animals, Buddhist temples and beautiful beaches. When people think of Southeast Asia, they often immediately think of Thailand.  While Bangkok is a busy city, it’s definitely worth a stop to explore markets, temples and restaurants. Thailand is the perfect place to give back and care for animals, especially their gentle giant elephants.

Cruises

Believe it or not, cruises are back in full swing. From the big ships with all the amenities for families to smaller, more luxurious and private experiences, there are options for all tastes and styles. The appeal is being able to see many destinations without packing/unpacking and having everything taken care of for you. While cruising isn’t for everyone, it’s worth a try to see if it might be a good fit.
