09 Nov A Sneak Peek into 2024 Travel Trends
The last two years of revenge travel have left us curious about what lies ahead. So, we’ve been keeping up with travel industry professionals and experts to get a sneak peek into what 2024 has in store for us.
Carbon-neutral
Zero emissions are the new goal, the must-strive for on everyone’s wish list. More than 50 top hotels, tour operators, and cruise lines are racing to reduce their carbon footprint (some as soon as 2024) and ultimately reach net-zero. This goal can take decades to reach but start keeping an eye out for cruise ships that plug in at the port, hotels with solar panels and tour operators off setting emissions.
Privacy
At the height of the pandemic, travelers wanted (needed) privacy. They turned to private jets, villa rentals, social distanced travel, and found they loved it. Multi-generational traveled particularly loved having the privacy and security of exclusive use spaces. Especially when that villa is on a resort, now that really gives everyone the best of both worlds in the future.
Sports-centered travel
On the opposite end of the spectrum lies sports travel. Think of big ticket events such as the Grand Prix, US Open, Olympics in Paris. There are so many exciting sporting events that draw travelers, then they are open to design a more robust trip before and after. Get that big ticket event and then surround it with activities of your own, from skiing, museum hopping, shopping or simply vacationing.
Indigenous tourism
Travelers are ready to really get to know a destination. One way is to spend time with its Indigenous peoples. This can be done throughout the world but is particularly well done in places like Canada where visitors can tour national parks and cultural sites with Native artists, naturalists, and spiritual guides. Another way to accomplish this is to volunteer with the local communities to see a different side of travel. Visit giveadayglobal.org to find out more.
Cruising
Yes, cruising. For the past few years, travelers have of course been weary of stepping on cruise ships but are now remembering that it’s such an accessible way to travel. Especially for those with any mobility and cognitive limitations, or for multi-generational travel where there are lots of budgets and opinions to accommodate. There is something for everyone from big ships, to mid-size luxury to small expedition style ships these days.
Set-jetting
How many people did you know that went to Sicily in the last year? And how many of those people were inspired by White Lotus? And how many others fell back in love with Paris by watching Emily in Paris, and then went to take the tour? It’s becoming very trendy to get to know a destination through entertainment and then make travel dreams come true.
We are all looking forward to seeing what, and where, 2024 brings us!
